Holds NCAA Records in Career Runs, Grand Slams

Personal: Romero is a member of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League’s Player Executive Committee. She majored in general studies at Michigan and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame on September 14, 2023. Her sister, Sydney, won two NCAA titles as a player at Oklahoma before claiming two more championships as a graduate assistant with the Sooners. Her younger brother, Michael, was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round (No. 24 overall) of the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft. Her younger sister, Sophia, is a redshirt freshman outfielder on the Boise State softball team. Romero has two dogs named Luna and Athens. She lists her father, Michael, as a person who has made a difference in her life and says her mother, Melissa, is her idol. She would be a professional tennis player if she was not playing softball. Romero enjoys working out and home improvement projects and also played basketball and tennis as a child. She has worn No. 32 since her high school playing career and owns a softball development app called “The 32 Approach.” Her proudest accomplishment is being a good role model to her siblings. Romero has worn No. 2 since high school.

2024 Championship Season: Romero totaled 1,070 leaderboard points, including 810 win points and 260 stat points, during her fourth Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball season. She started in all 15 games, posting a .250 batting average with 12 hits, including two doubles and two home runs. Romero drove in six runs while drawing four walks. She recorded at least one hit in 10 of her 15 games, including two multi-hit efforts. Romero collected two hits, including a home run, against Team Lorenz on August 10. She also posted two hits, including a home run, against Team Kilfoyl on August 12. Romero closed Week One with a season-high 140 leaderboard points against Team Svekis. She earned 100 or more leaderboard points in a game five times.


2023 Championship Season: Romero had an impressive season, finishing in 13th place with 1,430 leaderboard points. She was tied for sixth in the league with 160 MVP points after receiving three Game MVP awards, including a pair of MVP 1 commendations. As a team captain, she compiled a 4-2 record in two weeks. Romero posted a perfect 3-0 mark in Week Two before dropping two of three games during Week Three. She started in all 15 games and finished with a .260 batting average. Romero hit four doubles, ranking third in the league, and was one of six players in the league to hit a triple. She recorded five hits during Week One with at least one hit in each game. Romero also collected two Game MVP awards in the opening week of the season. In the season opener, she went 2-for-3 with a double and triple against Team Denham, earning a season-high 228 leaderboard points and MVP 1 honors. She was also named MVP 2 against Team Rhodes on July 30 after driving in the game-winning run on a bunt single in the bottom of the seventh inning. Romero collected her third Game MVP honor of the campaign on August 19 against Team Nickles, posting a double and a home run in Team Davidson’s 8-4 triumph. She fashioned a season-high three hits, including a double, against Team Faraimo on August 5. Romero posted eight games with 100 or more leaderboard points, including a pair of 200-point performances.


2022 Championship Season: Romero tallied 848 leaderboard points. She started in all 15 games and had a batting average of .238. Sierra hit one home run and drove in three runs. Her best performance came in the Week Five finale against Team Chidester, where she had three hits, including a solo home run. In the Week Three opener against Team Jaquish, Romero hit two doubles.


2022 AUX Season: Romero finished in 12th place on the leaderboard with 1,134 points. She started in 11 out of 12 games and had an impressive batting average of .409. Romero recorded 18 hits, including two doubles and one home run. She ranked second in the league with 10 runs scored. Romero made history by hitting the first home run in AUX Softball history during a game against Team Ocasio. She had five multi-hit games and four multi-RBI contests. Romero had at least one hit in the first 11 games, including two three-hit performances. In the season opener against Team Chidester, she went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. She also had a 3-for-3 showing against Team Fischer, with two RBIs.


International Experience: Romero has also represented Team USA at the ISF Junior Women's World Championship in 2013. She started eight games at shortstop, had a batting average of .500, and drove in 10 runs.


Other Professional Experience: Romero was the No. 2 overall selection by the USSSA Pride in the 2016 NPF Draft. Over her three-year career, Romero appeared in 105 games. In those games, she tallied 19 home runs and 78 runs batted in. Romero finished her NPF career with a .346 batting average. In 2017, Romero earned All-NPF honors after batting .302 with seven home runs and 33 runs batted in. During the 2018 campaign, Romero also posted seven home runs with 25 runs batted in.

At Michigan: Romero was a four-year letter winner. She started in 252 out of 253 games from 2013-2016. Romero had an impressive career batting average of .441, hitting 82 home runs and driving in 305 runs. She recorded 302 hits, including 44 doubles and six triples, and scored 302 runs. Romero was honored as the 2016 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and received the Honda Sport Award for Softball. She was also named the NFCA Division I Player of the Year. Romero is the first player in Michigan history to earn All-America honors four times, including three First-Team awards. She was a three-time Big Ten Conference Player of the Year. Romero holds NCAA records in career runs scored (302) and grand slams (11). In her freshman year, she was named the 2013 Big Ten Freshman of the Year after hitting 23 home runs. In her sophomore year, Romero hit four grand slams and set single-season records for batting average (.491) and runs scored (74). As a junior, she set UM single-season records with 85 runs scored and 83 RBIs.
