Julia Cottrill

Personal: Cottrill is the daughter of Jeff and Casey Cottrill. Her grandfather, Grier Jones, won the NCAA individual golf title for Oklahoma State in 1968 before enjoying a career in the PGA Tour. She also played basketball in high school. Cottrill lists her father as a person who has made a difference in her life and has a dog named Gus.

2024 AUX Season: Cottrill registered 740 leaderboard points, including 630 win points, during her first professional season. She was named to the starting lineup in 7-of-11 contests. Cottrill authored a .227 batting average with five hits, including a double and a home run. She drew two walks while scoring two runs and secured a season-high 120 leaderboard points against Team Wiggins (June 11) and Team Nickles (June 23). Cottrill belted a home run in the season finale against Team Nickles and hit a double against Team Edwards on June 16 while driving in two runs.


International Experience: Cottrill led Team USA to a Gold medal at the 2019 WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup. She hit .400 (6-for-15) with three runs batted in and six runs scored. She also guided the United States to a Bronze medal at the 2019 USA Softball International Cup, posting a .261 batting average with a home run and four runs batted in. Additionally, she competed for Team USA at the World Cup of Softball XII.

College Experience: Cottrill split her college career between Florida, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. She started in 226 of 234 games over five seasons, compiling a .309 batting average with 35 home runs and 156 runs batted in. Throughout her career, she collected 199 hits, including 43 doubles and two triples, and scored 121 runs while drawing 90 walks. She spent her first two seasons at Florida before transferring to Oklahoma State for the 2022 campaign. Cottrill finished her career by playing the 2023 and 2024 seasons at Texas A&M.


Cottrill was a three-time NFCA All-Region performer. She batted .303 with five home runs and 37 runs batted in while starting 75 of 76 games in two years with the Gators. As a sophomore, she registered 10 multi-hit games and earned Third-Team NFCA All-Southeast Region notice. Notably, she hit a two-run walk-off home run against Texas A&M to clinch the Southeastern Conference regular season title for Florida. In the COVID-shortened 2020 season, she boasted a .323 batting average with eight doubles.


During her lone season at Oklahoma State, Cottrill earned a starting assignment in 46 of 51 contests, contributing a .306 batting average with 11 home runs and 31 runs batted in. She then joined the Texas A&M roster for the 2023 campaign, where she earned NFCA Third-Team All-America plaudits, First-Team All-SEC, and NFCA All-South Region recognition. Leading the Aggies in various categories, she started 50 of 51 games, boasting notable statistics.


In her final season with the Aggies, Cottrill was a Second-Team NFCA All-South Region performer who posted a .299 batting average over 56 games with nine home runs and 45 runs batted in. Notably, she went 3-for-3 with two home runs and five runs batted in against Long Beach State on February 29, 2024, and also drove in five runs against North Texas on April 17, 2024, as part of a 2-for-2 performance.
