Hannah Flippen is a 5-foot-4 professional softball middle infielder from Bonita, California. She was acquired in the 4th Round of the 2025 Inaugural Draft following a collegiate career at Utah.


Personal Life


Background: Wears No. 19 because her family members also wore it during their playing careers and in honor of Hall of Fame baseball player Tony Gwynn. Competed in Major League Baseball’s Home Run Derby X Finals event in Salt Lake City in 2025.

Hobbies: Hobbies include spending time with her dogs, Joni and Sugar, spending time in nature, and playing board games and card games.

Education & Career: Bachelor’s degrees in human development and psychology from Utah. Works as a neuro-technician in Tucson, Arizona.

Family: Mother, Mary Lou Flippen, was an All-America softball player at Utah State.

Professional Experience


Athletes Unlimited Softball League (2020–)

2026 AUSL Postseason (Utah Talons): Flippen recorded a hit in both AUSL Championship games against Chicago, in addition to scoring the lone run for the Talons in Game One.

2026 AUSL Regular Season (Utah Talons): Flippen authored a .245 batting average with one home run and three runs batted in. She tallied seven runs scored while contributing 13 total hits, including two doubles and a triple. She finished the regular season strong, hitting safely in nine of her final 11 games, including an eight-game streak from June 30 to July 15. Flippen contributed two hits, including a triple, against Chicago on July 10. On July 9, at Oklahoma City, she belted a solo home run.

2025 AUSL All-Star Cup: Collected 650 leaderboard points. Received two Defensive MVP citations. Started all eight games, tallying four hits.

2025 AUSL Regular Season (Talons): Inaugural recipient of the AUSL Defensive Player of the Year award. Started 23 games, hit .296 with three home runs and 20 RBIs, and scored 17 runs.

2024 Championship Season: Placed 14th with 1,368 points. Member of the AU Pro Softball All-Defensive Team for the fourth consecutive season, hitting .244.

2024 AUX Season: Accumulated 888 leaderboard points. Two-time Defensive MVP honoree, batting .242 with a home run.

2023 Championship Season: Claimed 10th place with 1,524 points. Started all 15 games, tallying nine hits and two home runs.

2022 Championship Season: 2022 Athletes Unlimited Defensive Player of the Year, posting a .983 fielding percentage. Hit .306 with two home runs.

2021 Championship Season: Finished 28th with 1,146 points. Hit .267.

2020 Championship Season: Finished 19th with 1,420 points. Hit .340 with six home runs.


Other Professional Experience (2017–2023)

NPF & Japan Diamond League: Played for the Scrap Yard Dawgs (2017) and Chicago Bandits (2019). Competed for Hitachi Sundivas (2022-2023).


International Experience (2016–)

Team USA: Won Gold at the 2025 World Games, the 2022 World Games, and the 2017 Pan American Championship. Named Most Outstanding Player at the 2023 WBSC World Cup Group A event. Member of the 2026 National Team pool.

College Experience: Utah (2014–2017)


Career Statistics: Ranks third in Utah history with a .392 career batting average. Amassed 263 career hits, 33 home runs, 145 RBIs, and drew 105 career walks.

All-America: Three-time NFCA All-America selection (First-Team as a junior and senior).

Conference Honors: Two-time Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year and 2017 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.
