Ally Shipman-Shrout

University of Alabama '23

Hometown: Valencia, California

Personal: Shipman-Shrout is the daughter of Bill and Lorri Shipman and one of four children in her family. She majored in human environmental sciences at Alabama. Her husband, JT, played football at Tennessee, Colorado, and Arkansas State. They have two dogs named Kylo and Leia. She credits her father and University of Alabama head softball coach Patrick Murphy as people who have made a significant difference in her life. Shipman-Shrout models her game after her sister, Madison, who played softball at Tennessee from 2011 to 2014 and has worked as an analyst for Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball game broadcasts. One memorable moment for her was meeting the Tennessee team while her sister played at UT, which made her feel starstruck. In addition to playing, she served as a game analyst for broadcasts on the SEC Network during the 2025 college season. Her proudest accomplishment is helping her team reach the NCAA Women’s College World Series during her senior season. Outside of softball, Shipman-Shrout enjoys reading, baking, spending time with her dogs, going on adventures with her husband, and trying new coffee shops. She also knows how to juggle and has worn the number 34 throughout her entire softball career.

College Experience: Shipman-Shrout began her college career at Tennessee, where she played for three seasons before transferring to Alabama for her final two years. Over her entire collegiate career, she started 215 of 219 games and finished with a .327 batting average. She totaled 27 home runs, 156 runs batted in, 209 hits—including 48 doubles and six triples—and scored 120 runs while drawing 36 walks. During her two seasons at Alabama, Shipman-Shrout started 117 of 121 games and maintained a .327 batting average. She contributed 14 home runs and 81 RBIs, along with 116 hits, which included 27 doubles and one triple. She played a pivotal role in guiding Alabama to an NCAA Women’s College World Series appearance in 2023. As a graduate student, she started 58 games and was the Crimson Tide’s second-leading hitter with a .307 average. She also hit six home runs, drove in 35 runs, and tied for the team lead with 59 hits, including a team-best 15 doubles and one triple. Additionally, she stole eight bases in nine attempts. In her first season at Alabama, Shipman-Shrout earned Second-Team All-Southeastern Conference honors after starting 54 games in 2022. She also earned a spot on the NFCA All-South Region Second Team after posting a team-high .350 batting average. That season, she collected 57 hits, including 12 doubles and eight home runs. Prior to transferring, Shipman-Shrout was a two-year starter for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, compiling a .331 batting average in 98 games. She helped lead Tennessee to two NCAA Tournament appearances, hitting 13 home runs and driving in 75 runs during her time there. As a junior, she started 49 of 53 games, ranking second on the team with 39 RBIs. She batted .304 with 48 hits—including nine doubles, three triples, and eight home runs—and scored 27 runs. She also ranked third on the team with 13 multi-hit games. During the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Shipman-Shrout started all 23 games and shared the team lead with a .403 batting average. She contributed seven doubles, two triples, and two home runs while scoring 13 runs and driving in 16. As a freshman, she appeared in 22 games before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. She batted .328 with 21 hits and posted 20 RBIs that year. An outstanding student, Shipman-Shrout earned CoSIDA Academic All-District® First Team honors twice while at Tennessee. She also received two Easton/NFCA Scholar Athlete certificates during her collegiate career.
