Infielder Sydney Romero has signed with the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) for its inaugural season. The AUSL is a professional women’s softball league featuring four teams playing in a traditional format. The league will begin play this summer.
Romero has been a consistent finisher at the top of the AU leaderboard. In four different seasons, she has ranked in the top 10 and is coming off a 9th-place finish in the 2024 Championship Season. She posted a 10-5 game record, including a 2-1 record in Week One as a team captain. She had a .217 batting average with 10 hits, including a league-high six doubles.
She has been a pro since 2019 the conclusion of her college career at Oklahoma where she won two national championships and was a two-time First-Team NFCA All-American. Romero represented Team Mexico at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The general managers of the four teams will assemble the inaugural rosters at the AUSL Inaugural Draft, which will take place on January 29th.
