Athletes Unlimited Softball League stars Rachel Garcia and Jordan Woolery met in the championship round of MLBx: Mumbai on Saturday, with Garcia taking home MVP honors as her New York Yankees squad claimed the title in the event’s debut in India.
The competition at Mumbai Football Arena brought together the two AUSL stars, former Major League Baseball players and Indian cricket standouts for a crossover event featuring four teams representing the Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox.
Volts two-way player Garcia joined former Yankees outfielder and World Series champion Nick Swisher and Indian cricket star Suryakumar Yadav on the championship-winning squad.
The Yankees advanced to the final after defeating the Red Sox in the semifinals, and after the Yankees defeated the Dodgers in the championship round, Garcia walked away with the event’s MVP award.
On the other side of the bracket, Utah Talons infielder Woolery teamed up with five-time MLB All-Star Adrián González and Indian cricketer Jitesh Sharma to represent the Dodgers.
Woolery delivered several big swings in the semifinal matchup against the Chicago Cubs and helped her team advance to the championship before ultimately finishing as the runner-up.
Familiar Success on the MLBx Stage
Saturday’s competition added to an already successful year of MLBx appearances for both AUSL athletes.
Garcia previously earned MVP honors at MLBx during MLB All-Star Weekend in Philadelphia, where she launched a walk-off home run in the semifinals and helped Team Shane Victorino claim the championship.
Woolery also entered the international competition with an MLBx title under her belt. In August, she won MLBx Atlanta alongside former MLB outfielder Kevin Pillar, just weeks after winning the 2026 AUSL Championship with the Talons.
The event in Mumbai marked MLBx’s first stop in South Asia and brought together athletes from three sports to introduce baseball and softball to an international audience.
