The Sooner Softball fanbase had extra reason to get loud before their rivalry match-up with Texas on Saturday.

Pitcher Sam Landry was presented a golden ticket to the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) and will be drafted on May 3.

The AUSL College Draft Show airs Saturday, May 3, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU, revealing which teams selected each draftee.

Landry is a veteran addition to the Sooners this season. She spent three seasons at Louisiana before a coaching change caused her to explore her options for her final year of eligibility. Last year, as a Ragin’ Cajun, she pitched 194 innings, ringing up 165 strikeouts and a 2.08 ERA. She earned All-Sun Belt First Team honors and was named to the NFCA All-Central Region First Team.

Now, the veteran transfer has been Oklahoma’s go-to pitcher and has developed into the ace you can expect to see nearly every game at some point in the circle.

Landry has thrown 125.2 innings with a 16-3 record. Her 1.89 ERA and 131 strikeouts are ranked in the top 50 in Division I softball. She has 13 complete games and five shutouts to her name this season, and on February 16, she threw the 23rd perfect game in OU history against Baylor.
