Montana Fouts Signs with AUSL for 2025 Season
Four-time All-American pitcher Montana Fouts has signed with the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) for its inaugural season. The AUSL is a professional women’s softball league featuring four teams playing in a traditional format. The league will begin play this summer.
Fouts had an illustrious career at the University of Alabama where she competed from 2019 to 2023. The ace amassed a career record of 100-32 through 160 appearances. Her 2021 season was highlighted by throwing a no-hitter against UCLA in the Women’s College World Series, en route to being named the NFCA National Pitcher of the Year.
Her professional debut was last summer at the AU Pro Softball AUX competition in Wichita, Kansas. Fouts appeared in eight games with three starts, posting a 2-3 record. She tallied 20 strikeouts over 19.2 innings and earned MVP 1 honors against Team Wiggins on June 11 after striking out a season-high six batters over 4.2 innings to secure the victory. She also competed with Team USA at the 2022 World Games, recording a 0.00 earned run average with 13 strikeouts in 5.0 innings.
Fout’s return to softball in the U.S. was highly anticipated: after graduating from Alabama, she took a year off to pursue her dream of starting a farm, putting on camps and clinics, and returning to her hometown. Read more about her journey back to the circle here.
The general managers of the four teams will assemble the inaugural rosters at the AUSL Allocation Draft, which will take place in early 2025. A college draft will also be held later in the spring, allowing each team to fill out its final roster spots. Details regarding both drafts will be announced at a later date.
