Megan Grant provided all the offense Team Corrick needed Sunday night when she launched a third-inning grand slam, lifting her squad to a 4-3 win over Team Ricketts at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois.
Team Corrick entered the third inning facing a two-run deficit after Team Ricketts struck early. Maya Brady was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the first before Morgan Zerkle and Sydney Romero delivered back-to-back RBI doubles, giving Team Ricketts a 2-0 advantage.
That lead disappeared with one swing from Grant.
Sharlize Palacios drew a two-out walk in the top of the third and Bri Ellis followed with a double to left center to put a pair of runners in scoring position. After Sydney Sherrill walked to load the bases, Grant drove the first pitch she saw from Kat Sandercock over the wall in left center for a grand slam, putting Team Corrick ahead 4-2.
“I wasn’t thinking a lot,” Grant about the at-bat. “Just tried to keep things as simple as possible. Kat is obviously an amazing pitcher, so simplicity is very key with such elite pitchers like her. Yeah, didn’t do much thinking. Just saw it and just went for it.”
The home run marked the 14th grand slam in All-Star Cup history and made Grant the 12th player to accomplish the feat.
From there, team Corrick’s pitching staff was able to hold onto the lead.
Megan Faraimo took over for captain Georgina Corrick in the fourth inning and struck out five over 3.1 innings of relief while allowing one run on two hits. Team Ricketts cut the deficit to one run in the sixth when Baylee Klingler drove in Tiare Jennings with a single, but Faraimo and Lexi Kilfoyl combined to close the door in the seventh. Kilfoyl retired the final two batters to earn the save.
Grant finished 1-for-3 with four RBI and a walk, earning MVP 1 honors for the first Game MVP award of her All-Star Cup career. She collected 200 leaderboard points, making her the first player of the 2026 All-Star Cup to reach the 200-point mark in a single game.
Faraimo earned MVP 2 honors and 160 leaderboard points, while Ricketts received an MVP 3 nod after tossing 3.1 scoreless innings of relief for Team Ricketts. Kenleigh Cahalan earned Defensive MVP honors.
The victory moved Team Corrick to 1-1 in Series One and gave Corrick her second career win as an All-Star Cup captain. Team Ricketts dropped to 0-1.
