The Athletes Unlimited Softball League All-Star Cup begins on Saturday, but before the first pitch, the Series 1 captains will select their teams.
The AUSL All-Star Cup is a four-series season from Aug. 2 to 31 in which 60 professional softball players compete to become the individual champion utilizing Athletes Unlimited’s innovative format. Teams are hand-picked by the top athletes on the leaderboard each series. The 2025 All-Star Cup will feature games in Rosemont, Ill., and Raleigh and Greenville, N.C.
The top four leaderboard finishers from the 2025 season – Amanda Lorenz (Gold), Lexi Kilfoyl (Orange), Aleshia Ocasio (Blue), and Georgina Corrick (Purple) – will draft their teams on Thursday evening. Fans can visit theausl.com and follow @theauslofficial on X and Instagram to see the results.
How the AUSL All-Star Cup draft works
After the last game of every series, the top four point scorers will be named team captains. Each captain will be assigned to a team color based on their standing.
No. 1: Gold
No. 2: Orange
No. 3: Blue
No. 4: Purple
Note: In Series 2, there will be only three teams as the United States Women’s National Team competes at the World Games in China.
The draft is a snake draft, meaning that the draft order reverses in each round. The Purple captain receives the first pick, followed by the Blue captain, the Orange captain, and the Gold captain. The Gold team makes the first pick of the second round as the order reverses. This pattern continues until the draft is complete.
Team captains can consult with anyone they want before the draft, including any Athletes Unlimited staff, former coaches, and teammates.
During the draft, captains are allotted up to two minutes per pick. Once a player is selected, their captain may consult them for further decisions. Once all players have been selected, it will be time to prepare for the upcoming slate of games and get ready to play ball.
The 2025 All-Star Cup Drafts will be held on:
- Thursday, July 31
- Sunday, August 17
- Friday, August 22
- Wednesday, August 27
