Aleshia Ocasio Signs for AUSL’s Inaugural Season
Pitcher Aleshia Ocasio has signed with the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) for its inaugural season. The AUSL is a professional women’s softball league featuring four teams playing in a traditional format. The league will begin play this summer.
Ocasio has competed with Athletes Unlimited since it launched its Championship Season in 2020 and collected medalist honors twice. She was the 2021 Champion and most recently earned third place in 2024. Ocasio recorded a 2.51 ERA for second-best in the league last season, struck out 22 batters, and held opponents to a .242 average. She is only the fourth Championship Season player to earn multiple medals. She also earned All-Defensive Team honors in 2021 and 2024.
The Florida Gator alum holds a career .290 ERA with 50 appearances and 30 starts. She has a 20-14 record. She has also been a member of Team Puerto Rico since 2013. Ocasio helped the team to a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in 2015 and 2019, and silver at the 2023 games in Santiago.
The general managers of the four teams will assemble the inaugural rosters at the AUSL Allocation Draft, which will take place in early 2025. A college draft will also be held later in the spring, allowing each team to fill out its final roster spots. Details regarding both drafts will be announced at a later date.
