The next chapter of Raelin Chaffin’s career is set in ink.
The right-handed pitcher signed a rookie contract with the Talons after a dominant graduate season at Mississippi State, where she earned 2025 NFCA First Team All-South Region and Second Team All-SEC honors. Chaffin went 23-10 with three saves in 43 appearances this year, striking out 205 batters across 191.1 innings.
Chaffin’s season was highlighted by a sweep of national awards in February. She was named the NFCA Pitcher of the Week, SEC Pitcher of the Week, Softball America Star of the Week, and D1Softball.com Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 11 after opening the year with a string of standout performances.
Before transferring to Mississippi State, Chaffin spent three seasons at LSU. She went 11-5 with a 2.86 ERA in 2024, striking out 76 across 88.0 innings. As a sophomore in 2023, she posted a 6-1 record and 2.74 ERA in 53.2 innings, logging four complete games. Chaffin debuted in 2022 with a 6-2 record, 3.23 ERA, and 48 strikeouts over 14 appearances. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week that season after nearly tossing a perfect game against No. 2 Alabama.
Chaffin also brings international experience to the AUSL. She helped lead Team USA to gold at the 2021 WBSC U-18 Softball World Cup.
Chaffin joins former Mississippi State teammate Sierra Sacco on the Talons roster and will bolster a right-handed pitching staff that features Georgina Corrick, Megan Faraimo, and Montana Fouts.
The AUSL is a professional women’s softball league featuring four teams playing in a traditional format. Tickets to the 2025 season are on sale now.
