The Quick Story: Team Kowalik sprinted to a 7-0 lead and held off a comeback bid by Team Coffey to register a 7-6 victory to close Monday’s Athletes Unlimited Softball League All-Star Cup doubleheader at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
Key Moment: Team Kowalik (2-0) took an early 7-0 advantage in the first two innings. After catcher Kayla Kowalik belted a two-run home run in the first inning, Team Kowalik added five more runs in the second inning, including a two-run homer by corner infielder Delanie Wisz. Team Coffey scored in each of the next four innings to narrow the gap to 7-6, but pitcher Alana Vawter ended the comeback
attempt in the final frame for the one-run victory.
Leaderboard Update: Kowalik, who earned MVP 1 honors for the fourth time in her last five games, remains at the top of the leaderboard with 1,200 points. Pitcher Rachel Garcia holds the No. 2 position with 924 points, while pitcher Keilani Ricketts and middle infielder Erin Coffel round out the top four spots with 846 points and 828 points, respectively.

- Team Coffey registered 10 hits, marking the fourth time this season a team tallied 10 or more base hits … Team Kowalik most recently finished with 12 hits in its 13-5 victory against Team Netz on Sunday evening.
