The Quick Story: Outfielder Jadelyn Allchin drove in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning as Team Garcia (1-0) opened the final series of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League All-Star Cup campaign with a 5-4 victory in nine innings over Team Coffel (0-1) in the first game of Friday night’s doubleheader at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
Key Moment: After rallying to force extra innings with two runs in the fifth inning, Team Garcia earned the win in the top of the ninth inning. Outfielder Ciara Briggs, who was placed on second base, advanced to third base on a single by infielder Danieca Coffey. Allchin followed with a fly ball to left field, which allowed Briggs to score the winning run. Pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl nailed down the win by retiring Team Coffel in order in the bottom of the frame.
Leaderboard Update: The win allowed pitcher Rachel Garcia to move into second place on the All-Star Cup leaderboard with 1,058 points, while middle infielder Erin Coffel dipped to third place in the league standings. Kilfoyl rose eight spots on the league ladder into seventh place after collecting 194 points.
Extra Credit: Friday’s Series Four opener between Team Garcia and Team Coffel marked the first extra-inning game during the All-Star Cup season.

- Middle infielder Sydney McKinney ran her hitting streak to five games with a two-run double in the top of the fourth inning.
