AUSL Pitcher of the Series: Georgina Corrick makes league history and earns her first series honors after the Talons’ four-game sweep of the Volts. Corrick tossed the first complete game shutout in Athletes Unlimited Softball League history on Saturday, striking out seven batters and allowing only three hits with three walks on the day. She made another appearance on Sunday, improving her record to 3-0 with 1.2 hitless innings in relief. Then on Monday, she finished the series by getting the final out of the game to secure her first save of the season. In 9.0 total innings against the Volts this series, Corrick allowed only four hits, no earned runs and struck out eight batters.

AUSL Player of the Series: Caroline Jacobsen earns Player of the Series honors for not only her consistent hitting but also her impact on every game in the Talons’ sweep over the Volts. By the numbers, Jacobsen went 5-for-14 against the best pitching staff in the league (Volts hold a 3.72 ERA) with a double, two runs and six crucial RBIs for her team. She only struck out once. In Friday’s 3-2 nailbiter, Jacobsen upped the lead in the first inning for the Talons with an RBI single and then added an insurance run in the third. The following day, she drove in a pair of runs with a single down the left field line. Sunday’s matchup went to extra innings, and Jacobsen’s two-run double added insurance for the Talons. Jacobsen is currently on an eight-game hitting streak and has also reached base safely in nine straight outings.
