Team USA remains undefeated in pool play of the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, after defeating the Netherlands 8-1 on Thursday.
Talons pitcher Megan Faraimo got the start in the circle and threw four scoreless innings without giving up a hit. She walked three batters and struck out six.
Fellow Athletes Unlimited Softball League players contributed to the team offensively. Hannah Flippen went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a home run, and three RBIs. Volts catcher Dejah Mulipola was also good for three hits on the day, bringing in two runs with a double and a triple in the matchup.
Maya Brady and Amanda Lorenz also knocked in runs.
The victory clinched first place in Group A for the world No. 2 USA, and they will head to the semifinal round. Their next match-up will be against China on Friday.
All-Star Cup play will resume August 19 in Rosemont, Ill., and continue through Aug. 30.
Note: In Series 2, there will be only three teams in the AUSL All-Star Cup as the United States Women’s National Team continues to compete at the World Games in China.
