The Quick Story: Pitcher Georgina Corrick posted her second complete game shutout of the season and outfielder Caroline Jacobsen added three hits as the Talons (11-3) ran their winning streak to six games with a 4-0 victory over the Volts (5-9) in Athletes Unlimited Softball League action at a sold-out Parkway Bank Sports Complex on Tuesday evening.
Key Moment: The Talons took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when catcher Sharlize Palacios hit a RBI double to left field. After a single by infielder Sydney Romero upped the advantage to 2-0 in the fourth inning, the Talons tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning, including a solo home run by outfielder Jadelyn Allchin. Corrick, meanwhile, allowed just three hits and posted five strikeouts to collect her fourth win of the season.
Volts Notes
- The Volts requested a coach’s challenge in the bottom of the fifth inning to contest whether infielder Tori Vidales left first base early … The challenge was unsuccessful after the call was upheld.
