In response to the devastating floods that hit Central Texas in July, the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) is donating 100% of the profits from its Round Rock-themed T-shirt to Team Rubicon, a veteran-led humanitarian organization that deploys skilled teams to support vulnerable communities before, during, and after disasters.
The initiative launched on July 17 during the Round Rock series at Dell Diamond, where the Volts and Bandits faced off following the flooding. The shirts sold out during the initial sale.
With the AUSL set to come to Round Rock soon after the floods, and limited time to design and produce a new fundraising item, Senior Director of E-commerce and Retail Operations, Cristina McAloon, proposed donating all profits from a Texas-themed shirt that was already in production. The plan allowed the league to take immediate action and direct funds toward recovery efforts.
“This summer, our mission was to celebrate every destination we had the privilege to visit – not only to mark our inaugural season, but to connect with our growing fanbase and express our heartfelt gratitude,” McAloon said. “When the flood struck, it quickly became clear we had a unique opportunity with our AUSL Round Rock t-shirt to give back to this incredible community. The response this past weekend was truly inspiring, and we are currently working to secure additional inventory to continue supporting those on the front lines.”
A second run is now in production and will be available soon in AUSL’s online shop. Fans who missed out at the game will also have another opportunity to purchase.
“Our hearts ache for everyone impacted by the tragic flooding in Central Texas, particularly those grieving unimaginable losses,” said Hilary Meyer, Athletes Unlimited’s Chief Impact and Athlete Engagement Officer. “By donating 100% of our Texas T-shirt merchandise profits to Team Rubicon, a reputable nonprofit that is actively assisting in recovery efforts, we are able to contribute to the vital work being done in the area.”
