Pitcher Mariah Lopez has signed with the Talons for the inaugural season of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL).
Lopez is the first addition to the Talons since they established their first 12 players at the inaugural AUSL Draft.
Lopez is an NFCA All-American and All-Pac 12 out of the University of Utah. She competed for the Utes from 2021 to 2024 and helped lead them to the Women’s College World Series in her junior season in 2023. She closed out her college career in 2024 with 22 victories, the best in the conference, and her 203 strikeouts placed her second in the Pac-12.
The lefty hurler is the first Ute to post consecutive 20-win seasons and finished third in school history in career strikeouts with 582. Lopez has a career record of 58-37 with an ERA of 2.81.
Lopez is currently a grad assistant for Arkansas softball. She most recently competed professionally with the New York Rise of the Association of Fastpitch Professionals.
The AUSL is a professional women’s softball league featuring four teams playing in a traditional format. The league will begin play this summer.
