Carolina Blaze Zero Waste Game Day

The Carolina Blaze and Duke Athletics Climate & Sustainability are teaming up to keep as much waste out of landfills as possible on July 15-16. Instead of tossing everything into the trash, we are focusing on reducing, reusing, recycling, and composting to give game-day materials a second life.

How You Can Help

Pause Before You Toss: Take a few extra seconds to look at the signage at our waste stations before throwing items away.

Sort It Right: Put bottles, cans, food containers, and napkins into their designated recycling or compost bins.

Compost Bin

  • All food scraps
  • Pretzel wrapper (paper)
  • Paper boats (hamburger/hot dog)

Landfill Bin

  • Candy plastic packaging
  • Popcorn box
  • Sticker sheets
  • Clothespin clip

Recycle Bin

  • Aluminum foil (hamburger/hot dog wrapper)
  • Water & soda bottles
  • Alcohol bottles & cans
  • Candy outer box (cardboard)
  • Aluminum water can (NC Courage giveaway)
  • Adidas signs from the Carolina Blaze craft station

Clean Up Your Seat: Before you head out or leave at the end of the game, grab your remaining cups and packaging and drop them off at the nearest waste station.

Small actions add up. Every bottle and food scrap sorted correctly brings us closer to our goal!
