Carley Hoover is a 6-foot-2 professional softball pitcher from Clemson, South Carolina. She was acquired in the 2nd Round of the 2026 Expansion Draft following a collegiate career at Stanford and LSU.


Personal Life


Family: Her mother, Jolene, was the head volleyball coach at Clemson University from 1993-2014. Her father, Dave, was an All-America track and field athlete at Lewis University.

Professional Experience


AUSL (2025)

2025 AUSL Regular Season: Made her AUSL debut against the Volts on June 17 before missing the remainder of the season due to injury.


Other Professional Experience (2022–2026)

Japan Diamond Softball League: Entered the 2026 season ranked eighth on the league’s career strikeout list. Named 2022 JDL Player of the Year after leading the league with 18 wins and a league-record 198 strikeouts for Denso Bright Pegasus.

Mexican Softball League: Pitched for Diablos Rojos Femenil in 2026, ranking second with 10 wins and tossing a no-hitter to lift the team to the championship series.


International Experience (2016–2018)

Team USA: Participated in the 2018 Japan All-Star Series, the 2018 USA Softball International Cup, the 2018 Japan Cup, and the 2016 World Cup of Softball.

College Experience: Stanford & LSU (2015–2019)


Career Statistics: Appeared in 143 career games, fashioning a 1.73 ERA with 780 strikeouts and a 73-30 record.

LSU (2016–2019): Ranks fifth in LSU history with 754 strikeouts and 684.0 innings pitched, and second with 10 saves. Threw three no-hitters during her career at LSU.

Stanford (2015): Went 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA.

All-America: Two-time NFCA Third-Team All-America selection.

Conference Honors: Two-time Louisiana Pitcher of the Year and 2015 SEC All-Freshman Team.
