Right-handed pitcher Ruby Smith, formerly Ruby Meylan, has signed with the Carolina Blaze for the 2027 Athletes Unlimited Softball League season.
Smith made nine appearances during her rookie season in 2026, splitting time between the Oklahoma City Spark and Carolina. Across five starts, she recorded 16 strikeouts over 16.2 innings and earned one save.
The right-hander joined the Blaze on July 10 and made three appearances for Carolina to close out the regular season. Her strongest outing came against her former team on July 19, when she tossed a season-high four scoreless innings against Oklahoma City.
Smith played collegiately at Washington and Oklahoma State from 2023-26. She spent two seasons with each program and made 164 appearances, including 106 starts, over the course of her collegiate career.
Smith will return to Carolina in 2027 for her second professional season and first under a standard player agreement with the Blaze.
