October just got a lot more interesting for the Williams family. Just two months after rooting for the Chicago Bandits in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League Championship, Sami’s older brother Luke will compete with the Atlanta Braves in the MLB Wild Card Series.
The brother of the AUSL Hitter of the Year was drafted in the third round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies and made his major league debut in 2021.
Luke’s addition to the roster is a bit of a surprise; he logged only one plate appearance in the majors this season dating back to April and spent most of the 2026 season with the Braves’ Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett. But Luke’s skill set gives the Braves defensive flexibility; he has logged at least seven major league innings at every position except catcher (pitcher included).
He has been a journeyman playing for the Phillies, San Francisco Giants, Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, and now the Braves. Luke spent most of the last two seasons in the majors with Atlanta.
This season with the top affiliate, the Gwinnett Stripers, Luke has hit .218 with 18 doubles, one triple, nine homers, 31 RBIs, and 37 steals in 103 games with the Stripers.
Tuesday marks his MLB postseason debut as the Braves begin a best-of-three series vs. the Phillies at Truist Park. Game one begins at 2 p.m ET.
